It doesn`t matter if puppy or fully grown dog, the sound method of `Clicker` can be used at each age as well as each training phase. Based on the special sound signal the use of `Clicker` means a reward for your dog, which should be followed by a tasty dog treat. The following examples of use illustrate the principle of rewading your dog and offer further possibilities of using, which are based on dog`s reward and not punishment. How dogs learn:Dogs learn by doing as well as by rewards or punishments, which will follow right after it, depending on the dog`s behaviour. If the dog owner rewards or punishes only a few seconds later, the dog will not understand this educational step anymore. Playing with another dog after your dog has run away makes him feel being rewarded. It is important, that the first steps leading to the desirable dog`s behaviour have to be rewarded at the right moment by `Clicker`. Different commands and examples of use as well as a description about the effect of `Clicker` can be found subsequently. How `Clicker` works:The clicking sound should mean for your dog, that he behaves correctly. This correct behaviour should be rewarded with a tasty dog treat. Working with the `Clicker` has to be learned by the dog in several training steps, so it would be helpful to support this training by little dog treats (not bigger than the size of a pea) which likes your dog most. While using the `Clicker` please always keep the right order: `click`!, take the dog treat and give it to your dog. Please do not use the `Clicker` in order to make your dog paying attention or to call him.Training examples:Dog command `watch me` should make your dog pay the whole attention to you, even if other dogs are right next to him. When you start the training your dog will try to avoid looking directly in your eyes, but whenever he makes only small movements towards your direction make the sound of `click`, so that he will know to be on the right way: If the dog moves his head, make the sound of `click` and give a little dog treat. Do not aim too high and expect only little steps, so that your dog keeps on being motivated and having fun during the training.Do not repeat the command more than 10-15 times and go on to the next aim to be gained. Please do not train more than 3 minutes nonstop and only once a day. The training should not follow right after feeding, because even a bowl full of dog feed could mean an extra reward after the last sound of `click`.Dog command `down`It is also important for dogs to learn the command `down`. Therefore please hide some dog treats under your flat hand, so that he can watch you while hiding the treats. The dog will watch these action with interest. If he only takes a look at your hand, just make the sound of `click` and at the same timelift your hand, so that your dog can eat the hidden dog treats. Than put new dog treats under your flat hand and keep your dog busy with your hand as he tries to `dig` for the treats with his paw. Whenever he sits down and starts digging with his paws, 2 important steps on the way to the dog command `down` have already been reached. Now move backwards with your hand, so that your dog gets down while trying to reach for the the dog treats. It is now necessary to make the sound of `click` followed by a treat. If you leave out the sound of `click`, your dog will try something new and will lay down in front of your flat hand. After a few repetitions there will be no neet of dog treats under your hand anymore, as the flat hand will already signalize `down`.In summary we would like to list the steps, which will help to train your dog`s correct behaviour with the `Clicker`:1. Before starting the training with `Clicker`, it is important to define the commands, which your dog should learn.2. In order not to expect too much of your dog and to keep the fun while training, cut the training into little steps.3. Work on 1 step only for each training unit.4. Do not forget to reward your dog by a so called `Jackpot` (a special dog treat given in a non-defined moment, but after your dog`s correct behaviour) from time to time.5. Make your dog resistant to background noise as well as to actions running parallely to the dog training. Try to work under more and more distraction.6. Do not spoil your dog by using the `Clicker` permanently. Use the `Clicker` each 2nd or 4th time when the dog carries out his behaviour correctly. This encourages your dog always to do his best during the training.8. Start with the training of the first dog commandWe wish you and your dog a successful training! Please note, that it is better to define little steps in order to reach the desired aim. This helps to build up and to intensify the relation between dog and master in a playful and friendly way.
