The last thing we need is for your cat to think that the washing basket is where it has to go to do its business. This is where a cat litter tray comes in handy. You will also need a litter tray if your cat is going to spend some time indoors.
Cat litter trays come in the form of a basic cat litter tray (just a box shaped tray), trays with rim (to stop the litter coming out when you cat leaves the tray) and hooded cat trays. Hooded cat litter trays are the best kind of trays to have to eliminate litter being scattered everywhere and they have filters to help with an odour problems.
Cat trays should be lined with cat tray liners so they can be changed and disposed of quickly and partially filled with cat litter.
It is important with litter trays that cats are encouraged to use them. Cats prefer litter trays with space to move around in (do we like tiny bathrooms?). Some cats will take a dislike to the litter you are using and this is a common reason why they won't use the litter tray. Do not place the cat litter tray in places where the cat can't find it (like behind the sofa).
